Breaking the Poverty Spirit
Seth and I have experienced something new since we've been in Tanzania. Never, never, never have we ministered in a developing nation and received an offering from the people of any church. One church took an offering for us and a woman from another church brought a gift/offering of shoes and a purse (from her business I think).
Of course we have never had any expectation of any monetary gifts. But I am so excited for these individuals and churches because they have tapped into an awesome Scriptural principle: Sowing and Reaping. By giving...and giving sacrificially...and by giving whatever they had...I believe they are breaking off that poverty spirit that resides over so much of the African continent.
We were so humbled and shocked and surprised. As I have reflected on the sacrificial giving of these individuals I am reminded of the woman who gave her two mites in the temple as Jesus watched. He knew her heart. He knew her sacrifice. She had given everything. He was honored by her giving and He honored her.

As these people have sown into us I believe the Lord is breaking off a spirit of poverty that has held them down. Freedom, Increase, Fruitfulness, Harvest, Favor, Abundance belong to these, Lord Jesus. Pour yourself out on these who have loved You and have honored us.
