60 MOP (our version of Bethel's 48 HOP/MOP....thanks Bethel)

prayer: (noun)- an act of communion with God

Seth and I attended a few classes at Bethel in the past few months. We felt, both, blessed and overwhelmed by the amount of personal ministry that we received while we were there. We were so impacted and affected by portions of the personal ministry that we decided we needed to bring our own version of their 48 MOP (minutes of prayer) and their Intercession times with us to the nations. Each time we have done one of these it has been a little different, but powerful…and really fun. We call the 48 MOP, 60 MOP (because we set it up for a 60 minute time period. We call the Intercession time 60 MOR (minutes of refreshing).

Preparing to Enter 60 MOP

While in Mozambique we focused the 60 MOP on the Hope House. I taught the boys about recognizing and hearing God’s voice. I also taught on intercession. I didn’t want them to spend an hour uttering a rehearsed list of needs…or even JUST heartfelt, meaningful words. I wanted more for them. I really wanted them to encounter the presence and person of Jesus.

Listening for what the Lord was saying...

I wanted them to taste Him and feel Him and encounter Him. The Lord loves to interact with us. He loves to hear what is in our hearts and He loves to share the things in His heart with us. Sometimes we fail to take time to listen to the things that He is thinking about. I wanted the boys to experience and feel the things that God had in His heart; to share a great exchange with Him, to really commune with Him.

So, we, as a team prepared. I had asked the Lord what music I should play during this time of Intercession. We set up different stations. There was a worship/flagging station, an art station, a station where they could read the word and write what God was speaking to them; there was a white board with a place to write what they were asking God to do in the nations: healing, deliverance, etc. in specific areas. We also had several other stations just for them to be able to sit and listen as the Holy Spirit ministered to them.

Asking for healing in the nations....Worshiping Before the Lord

I had low expectations…what I mean by that is I really didn’t expect them to fully grasp the full concept of interceding in this way. However, I fully expected God to show up and to touch them. The beautiful presence of the Lord Jesus came and the boys really were engaged; not because of anything we did, but because the Holy Spirit came and moved and stirred and taught…all of us, as only He can do.

I can’t wait to do another one of these!!!...even (and especially) if it’s just at home with our family! The awesome presence of God is soooo sweet and refreshing and fulfilling and …..on and on I could go!!!
